Sitting to the stillness

Za-zen meaning ”to sit to inner stillness.”
The meditation form that we use, grew out of the meeting between zen buddhist monks in Japan and the Jesuit monks at the turn of the century when they got in contact with each other.
Through the body’s stillness, silence and a mental presence, we can slowly move towards stillness and wholeness in our innermost existence.
Let go of the posture, thoughts and feelings and just exist.
Meditation can meet many different needs at different stages in life.
In addition to meeting with oneself and life’s innermost, the periodic silence is a way of coping with stress, to achieve greater creativity and presence in everyday life and a deeper body awareness.

The body in meditation

When meditating the body and its position is of central importance.
There are several different sitting positions, but common to them all is that you are in

balance, in the body’s vertical line and with as little tension as possible.
Sitting in balance is a method to achieve inner and outer tranquility.
The seating position also makes it possible to relax and allow for the free breathing.

Free breathing, the body’s own pace, helps achieve to stillness while it has a high symbolic value, to breathe out anxiety and stress and breathe in peace and rest.
Like breathing may come and go freely, we try letting the thoughts pass without thinking or attaching any importance to them or value in them.

In this way the body balance interacts with the inner approach to achieve the harmony that comes when I become one with myself and life. In the depths I can get in touch with my feelings and face them without demands.

How does it work?

The whole meditation takes approximately 30 minutes. No previous knowledge is required.
In the introduction you get the opportunity to test the relaxation that begins every meditation session.

After an initial introduction, you are welcome to our “drop-in meditation” on Thursdays 16:00.
